In the words of Ferris Bueller "Life comes at you pretty fast" I built my own blog and "bam" (in the word of Emeril) 3 months are gone and I haven't been back. So typical of me. I suspect I am not the first person to start something and not finish it. I kinda feel guilty having set up some people to peruse my inner being only to leave them all hanging on for next post. So far that is like 2 people so I am not super guilty ;)
But things happen, you get busy, deadlines come and go you chase your tail believing the next thing is the important thing. Then something happens and you gain perspective again. Most of the stuff I do or don't do will not be missed by most of the people most of the time. It is just a few of the things I do in my own arena that seem to get noticed or make a difference around me. I know my walk with Christ can have far reaching effects if I follow His leading. I am talking about the busy stuff I decide to make important.
Last week Dad walked through the last door. Today he is gazing on the full glory of the Creator. When Dad left this world he did not care if anyone noticed if his accomplishments were meaningful, well done or worthy of a list in the paper. His last words were 'I am not afraid because I know where I am going". I don't believe he said this to comfort himself I believe it was his final lesson and most important contribution/gift to his family and anyone else who heard it.
Now all those things I am hurrying to do seem a little superfluous like ants scratching out a home in the dirt. In the bigger picture most of what we do is just distraction while we wait. Its those flickers of light, those kingdom moments when we are keenly aware of divine guidance and omnipotent results that matter. The rest is simply stealing time, robbing God of chance to make move.
This blog is to my Dad for instilling the good in me. He built the desire in me for those flickers of light. The need to help others is in me because that was what Dad was/is all about. Dad didn't waste time with filler. I look forward to accomplishing those few good things in my life. The stuff that matters I want less filler and more of the life abundant. The stuff Dad was so famous for. Sorry I got so windy but I promise (in the words of Jim Boyer) next time "if the collection is good we'll dispense with the services"
